Embracing the monastic path

Discover the fulfilling journey of monastic life with the Celtic Buddhists of Glen Ard. A life dedicated to service, community, and spiritual growth awaits.

What is monastic life?

Monastic life is a profound journey centered on dedication to service. It's about living in a supportive communal environment, where individuals uplift each other on their spiritual path. It's a commitment to a life of introspection, compassion, and shared purpose, fostering deep personal and collective growth.

Our unique monastic tradition

At Glen Ard, our monastic life is deeply intertwined with nature and self-sufficiency. We nurture our environment, raising chickens for fresh eggs, tending goats for milk, and cultivating gardens and orchards for our food. We practice giving back to all the beings on our land, sharing our bounty and planting plants that enrich the environment for insects, birds and mammals. This connection to the land not only helps sustain us but also enriches our spiritual practice, fostering a sense of gratitude and interconnectedness.
